MUST-HAVES: it names BOTH companies; it says what kind of transaction it is (full acquisition, majority stake, acquihire, asset purchase, licensing-plus-hiring arrangement); and it carries a date inside the 14-day window. Give the price when disclosed and say so explicitly when it is not. State what happens to the target's product, because 'acquired and shutting down in 90 days' is the part a user of that product needs. Skip rumour and 'in talks to acquire' reports, 'M&A activity' roundups, analyst commentary, Crunchbase and PitchBook profile pages, and anything outside the window.
