JPMorgan Chase interview accounts can vary by cohort and seniority. This page focuses on a Bengaluru SE3 experience and separately notes an experienced SWE assessment report. The assessment questions in the latter were not remembered, so they are not guessed.
SE3: coding and system design
One candidate described three interview rounds scheduled on the same day after a HackerRank assessment. The coding round combined a code-review exercise, where the candidate commented on a proposed pull request (source), with a DSA prompt: count substrings with no repeated characters (source). Both are described in the JP Morgan SE3 experience on LeetCode Discuss (2024).
The system-design round asked the candidate to design a parking-lot system (source). The interviewer later said they should have asked more questions before drawing the design. The behavioral round used scenario questions, but the post does not quote the exact wording, so they are not presented as a question bank here.
Experienced SWE cohort: assessment stage
A separate India cohort report describes a 60-minute HackerRank assessment with two questions. The candidate said they passed but did not publish the questions. The experienced Software Engineer report therefore adds hiring context, not prompt details. Do not assume the SE3 round sequence applies to every experienced hire.
How to prepare for the JPMorgan software engineer interviews
For code review, practice identifying correctness, edge cases, readability, and operational risks, then explain which comments block approval. For the substring task, compare a sliding window with a brute-force scan and state the invariant. For parking-lot design, ask about vehicle types, capacity, pricing, and entry/exit behavior before choosing data structures.
These are candidate accounts, not a bank of guaranteed JPMorgan questions. Broader examples are in our system design guide, behavioral interview guide, and company experience hub.
JPMorgan Chase SDE II report
A separate SDE II candidate report adds these screening and technical questions. They are from a different account than the Bengaluru SE3 loop above:
- Why do you want to switch companies? (LeetCode JPMorgan Chase SDE II report)
- Have you discussed your decision with your current manager? (same report)
- What is the difference between a skill and an agent? (same report)
- How would you send a large file to another endpoint? (same report)
- How would you split the file into chunks? (same report)
- How do accuracy, precision, and recall differ? (same report)
- How do authentication and authorization differ? (same report)
- Explain the logic behind Kadane's algorithm. (same report)
Frequently asked questions
What questions were in the separate JPMorgan HackerRank assessment?
The experienced Software Engineer candidate reported a 60-minute assessment with two questions but did not publish them. The named code-review, substring, and parking-lot prompts come from a different SE3 report.
