TCS Ninja and Prime Interview Experience

TCS Ninja and Prime interview experience with additional NQT Java and HR questions, alongside the 2024 and 2025 campus reports.

Last updated 2026-10-31.

TCS campus reports often combine technical, managerial, and HR questions, but the role and year make a real difference. This page separates a 2025 Ninja account from a 2024 Prime account. Neither should be taken as the current process for every campus or candidate.

TCS Ninja: NQT and combined interview

The 2025 on-campus Ninja report describes an online assessment followed by one combined technical, managerial, and HR round. The candidate came from a mechanical engineering background. The assessment included aptitude and two coding problems, but the report does not name those coding prompts.

The combined interview included these technical questions, all from the TCS Ninja 2025 report on LeetCode Discuss:

  1. Why did you choose Mechanical Engineering? (source)
  2. What is Total Productive Maintenance? (source)
  3. Explain Lean Six Sigma and the PDCA cycle. (source)
  4. Write HTML with a float input, integer input, and submit button. (source)
  5. What is a keyword in Java, and how do you read user input? (source)
  6. What does psvm stand for in Java? (source)
  7. How does ChatGPT work? (source)

The managerial and HR discussion included the candidate's transition into IT, relocation, and night-shift availability. Those questions are also in the cited report.

TCS Prime: 2024 campus experience

One Prime candidate reported two panel interviews after the NQT. The report names matrix-to-lower-triangular conversion in the test (source), then a matrix transpose in the first panel (source). In the later panel, the candidate was asked to find all primes from 1 to N (source) and explain Trapping Rain Water (source). The same round covered heap sort, quick sort, merge sort, Dijkstra, and the difference between Prim and Kruskal (same report). These prompts are from the TCS Prime interview report (2024).

How to prepare for the TCS Ninja and Prime interviews

The Ninja account is especially relevant to a non-CS campus candidate because it says which background questions came up. The Prime report is more technical and includes a second panel. Focus your preparation on the actual role and test pattern listed in the hiring notice. For general interview planning, see how to prepare for an interview and the interview experience hub.

Another TCS NQT candidate report

A separate NQT account mentions Java predict-the-output questions and these interview questions:

  1. Predict the output of short Java code examples. (LeetCode TCS NQT report)
  2. Why do you want to join TCS? (same report, related NQT account)
  3. What do you know about TCS? (same report, related NQT account)
  4. Describe a situation when you felt like giving up and how you overcame it. (same report, related NQT account)

These are additional candidate accounts. The source notes do not provide the Java code snippets or identify the NQT question statements.

Frequently asked questions

Are TCS Ninja and Prime interviews the same process?

The reports describe different profiles and years. The 2025 Ninja candidate reported one combined interview after NQT; the 2024 Prime candidate described two panels. Neither defines the process for every campus drive.
